Just like you, elite athletes get stronger by picking up 2.5 pounds at a time, over and over again. Elite strongman athletes don’t worry about perfect performance every time they lift weights. Instead, they focus on the basics, session after session, lift after lift. The same goes for staying sober: You can’t accelerate the process. Staying sober for five years takes five years.
