In this talk, Josh Ogawa reflects on the polarized ideologies around young people and the struggle to find your own voice. Joshua Ogawa is a Los Gatos High School Graduate of the Class of 2021. During his time at LGHS, he participated in the marching band and served as a board member of the Interact Club. After his Junior year, Joshua founded the peer-to-peer organization Cats to Cats to combat teen mental distress at the high school with the goal of increasing students’ direct involvement in creating a supportive and healthy mental health environment. He was also recruited by the Santa Clara County Board of Education to join the Youth Advisory Committee which sought the advice of high school students on how mental health should be addressed within the school system. Joshua currently attends Reed College in Portland, OR, and is studying psychology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
